Pluma Sculptura
“The Feather”
My debut sculpture concept began in late 2018 with this colorful, abstract geometric form. It resembles a dart, stake or feather and stands 10 feet tall on average.
Materials include a 2” square tubular steel post with 4, CNC cut, 3/4” marine grade MDO board panels attached to the “mast” in a stepped fashion and secured by hidden steel rods that travel through the post. The panels are primed, routed and sanded, and have designs directly printed onto the surface of both sides using UV inks from a large format flatbed printer. Each panel is then coated in an acrylic sealer to ensure it’s longevity outdoors.
The Feather is secured to the concrete pad using 4, 4” self tapping concrete anchor bolts through a 16” steel base plate, or can be installed directly into the ground using a 10” diameter x 5’ deep concrete footer.
